William Engel, Director of Music and the Arts at First Lutheran, has been summer organist for 18 years up until the pandemic, while the late Jared Jacobsen was at the Chatauqua Institute. He is now fulltime with First Lutheran and is a long time faculty member at the New York School of Interior Design where he currently teaches online in the BFA and MFA Programs. He is a practicing Visual Artist and has a Studio in Hillcrest. He has exhibited in the Chelsea Art District in NYC with Skoto Gallery, and his paintings have been installed in commercial and hospitality locations, including the corporate lobby of Time Warner on Columbus Circle in New York City, Shering-Plough headquarters in New Jersey, the New York School of Interior Design, and The William Hotel in Midtown Manhattan. He studied Music at Immanuel Lutheran College with Robert Dommer and workshops with Paul Manz and has played for weddings and special services nationally for over 35 years.
